What’s odd is that this is a limited time offer. Retailers speaking to Gadgets 360 have confirmed that getting PUBG free with the Xbox One X ends on February 26. It’s unlike Microsoft’s past tactics in India. Given the timing of this move, it’s probably being done to shift consumer attention from Sony bringing back the PS4 Pro in India this weekend onwards.
It's also important to note that the Xbox One X is slated to increase in price from Rs. 44,990 to Rs. 48,490. This is due to a hike in customs duty. Bundling PUBG with Microsoft’s iterative console stands to lessen the blow or at the very least, ensure that remaining consoles occupying the Rs. 44,990 price are sold quicker.
Though if you already own an Xbox One X, PUBG is available for Rs. 1,990 as a digital download on the Microsoft Store. You can buy PUBG for less on PC as it costs Rs. 999 on Steam (making it the rare inexpensive PC game) but its performance is anything but stable, even after hitting version 1.0.
